The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is the international organization of Parliaments established in 1989. The IPU is the focal point for world-wide parliamentary dialogue and works for peace and co-operation among peoples and for the firm establishment of representative democracy. The IPU notably adopts resolutions on alleged violations of human rights of parliamentarians in different countries in order to bring about action by parliaments and parliamentarians worldwide. In that context, the IPU had adopted numerous resolutions on the arrest of members of the Palestinian Legislative Council by the IOF, based on information provided by Addameer.
